Certificate Requirements and Application Process
To apply to our program, you must submit the following materials:
Required Documents:
- Completed application form
- Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
- Personal statement indicating your interest in pursuing a graduate degree in health law and policy
- Academic transcripts
- Letters of recommendation are recommended, but not required
Academic Transcripts:
- Official transcript(s) from each institution attended since high school
- Unofficial transcripts may be used for admissions decision-making (Hofstra University reserves the right to require that accepted students submit official transcripts prior to matriculating)
- Institutions must send hard-copy, sealed transcripts directly to the admissions office
Letters of Recommendation:
These are recommended, but not required. Letters need to be from individuals qualified to comment on your ability to complete graduate study successfully. Employers, supervisors, and former instructional faculty members are suitable references.
International Applicants
Transcript Requirements
If you received your academic training from an institution outside the United States, you will need to make arrangements to have two sets of transcripts printed – one in your institution’s native language and one in English. They must be sent to and evaluated by an accepted credential evaluation service, such as World Education.
English Language Proficiency
If your academic training was in a language other than English, you must present a recent score from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) from the Educational Testing Service. The admission committee seeks students who have achieved:
- Internet-based TOEFL score of 100 or higher
- Paper-based TOEFL score of 600 or higher
- Computerized TOEFL score of 250 or higher
