Master of Arts in Health Law and Policy Admissions Requirements

• Official transcripts from each institution attended since high school
• Unofficial transcripts accepted for initial admission decisions
• Hard-copy, sealed transcripts must be sent directly to the admissions office (coordinate through GradCAS)
• Hofstra reserves the right to require official transcripts before matriculation

These are recommended, but not required. Choose recommenders who can speak to your ability to succeed in graduate study:

• Current or former supervisors
• Employers familiar with your work ethic
• Former instructional faculty members
• Professionals who understand your academic and professional capabilities

Your personal statement should demonstrate:

• Clear motivation for pursuing health law and policy education
• Understanding of how the program aligns with your career goals
• Commitment to completing graduate-level coursework
• Specific interest in healthcare regulation and policy

Unlike many graduate programs, Hofstra’s online master’s admissions process does not require GMAT or GRE scores, removing barriers for working professionals returning to education.

Additional Documentation

If you completed academic training outside the United States:

• Submit transcripts in both native language and English
• Use an accepted credential evaluation service (such as World Education)
• Provide two complete sets of evaluated transcripts

English Proficiency

International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through TOEFL scores:

• Internet-based TOEFL: 100 or higher
• Paper-based TOEFL: 600 or higher
• Computer-based TOEFL: 250 or higher
